Crozilla, Reportedly, the Largest Wild American Crocodile in Florida
This Invasive Burmese Python was about 3 years old, 10 feet long and 32 lbs. They can grow to be 20 feet, 200 lbs. and lay 100 eggs a year.
CrocZilla is believed to be the largest wild crocodile in the Florida Everglades, at approximately 14 feet in length.
Argentine black & white tegus must be removed from the wild as they are threatening native species in Florida.
Florida encourages the removal of these large invasive fish that disrupt ecosystem balance.
Green iguanas are high risk for Florida, ecologically and economically.
Burmese pythons are devasting Florida's ecosystem, eradicating certain mammal species in some areas of the Everglades. Removing invasives saves natives.
Kym Clark is a Florida-based wildlife photographer, conservationist, Burmese python hunter, social media influencer and outdoor enthusiast who is renowned for her captivating images and active participation in ecological preservation efforts. Her work has garnered attention from major media outlets, including the Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel, Business Insider, Newsweek, Field & Stream and USA Today.
Beyond educational photography, Kym is actively involved in conservation initiatives, removing invasive species from Florida year-round. Her commitment to preserving Florida’s native wildlife is evident in both her fieldwork and public outreach. In addition to the removal of Burmese pythons, she also removes non-native iguanas, tegus and other invasive reptiles, amphibians and fish, a mission critical to saving Florida’s ecosystem and its native wildlife. Kym and her team have donated Burmese python skins as well as python and tegu teeth for educational purposes. In addition, they have donated a live, non-native veiled chameleon (removed from wild Florida) to a local nature center to be used for educational purposes as an ambassador animal; please visit Rango the Chameleon who was re-homed at Green Cay Nature Center in Boynton Beach, Florida. Kym participates in and promotes statewide events to remove invasive species, such as the Florida Python Challenge (an annual competition aimed at controlling the population of invasive Burmese pythons in the Everglades) as well as the Removal of the Swamp Invaders (a joint effort between Florida Fish and Wildlife FWC and the Miccosukee Indian Tribe/Village/Resort spearheading the control of invasive fish).
Primarily hunting on foot or bicycle in the Florida Everglades, Kym shares her wildlife adventures and conservation efforts on her social media platforms (Instagram @kym_clark, Facebook @kymberlyaclark, YouTube @kym_clark and TikTok @kymberly_clark). Her platforms feature a blend of breathtaking wildlife photography and informative content on ecological issues. Through videos and photos, Kym’s social media content focuses on education about native, nonnative and invasive species in Florida, including the devastation resulting from the release of exotic pets into the wild. Burmese pythons have nearly eradicated mammals in some areas of the Florida Everglades. Kym believes it is important to socialize the necessity of the removal of all invasive species, whether it’s via hunting or fishing. She encourages re-homing non-native and invasive species when possible as well consuming or repurposing if euthanasia is required by state law (as in the case of Burmese pythons in which the skins are preserved). Removing invasives saves natives.
Some notable wildlife encounters include…
• Croczilla: In April 2023 and November 2023, Kym captured stunning photographs of a massive 14-foot American crocodile, affectionately dubbed “Croczilla” in Everglades National Park. These rare sightings were significant moments in her wildlife photography journey because crocodiles are endangered with an estimate of only a couple thousand remaining in Florida. So, simply encountering a wild crocodile is an unbelievable experience, but two sightings of the largest wild crocodile basking on land is absolutely epic.

• Burmese pythons: Kym has documented many Burmese python encounters, including a notable instance where she and her birding companions spotted a 15-foot+ python crossing a road in Everglades National Park in January 2023. This sighting was monumental in her wildlife journey because it inspired her to learn to hunt Burmese pythons and start actively removing them from the Florida Everglades; many of her removals are documented as well.

• A Burmese python wrapped around an alligator: This was Kym’s favorite python removal of 2024, because, while she was riding her bike alone through the Everglades on a chilly morning, she was able to remove the invasive python and save the native American alligator it was seconds away from killing. She may have rode into the Everglades alone, but she rode out double with a Burmese python (longer than her) wrapped around her bike handlebars. This python skin is now hanging on her wall as a tribute and reminder of the importance of not releasing non-native species into the wild. • Still on her bucket list: Kym anxiously awaits the day that she comes face to face with an endangered Florida panther and hopes to encounter a rare federally-threatened eastern indigo snake, both beloved and protected native species in Florida.
